According to Washington Top News reports Colombian-based companies that focus on ballistic-resistant clothing such as jackets, accessories and children’s apparel are finding a ripe market in America.

With an estimated 3 million American gun owners and several prominent mass shootings, namely in schools, protection has become a big market for these companies.

One firm saw its bulletproof backpacks sell out within minutes following the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, in February.

According to an August 2017 report from Market Research, body armour manufacturing is a $465 million-a-year industry and a Grandview Research 2016 study projects that the industry could reach over $5 billion globally by 2024.
