Young’s celebrates 195 years!

And, yes. free pints are definitely involved....

Say cheers to 195 years as Young’s gets set to pull out all the stops across the capital and beyond. Which is exactly the kind of thing we need to keep the fun summer vibe going, and what better than a good old (in this case, really old) brewery celebration….

And they have some good things planned, with complimentary pints, a limited run of old favourite, RamRod, on draught; and on Young’s Day itself (Thursday 17thSeptember), celebrations across its pubs, including a £19.50 three-course birthday menu at Chelsea pub, The Phene, and an appearance of Young’s iconic dray horses.

Enjoy a complimentary pint

Say cheers with a pint-sized treat! Toast to 195 years at your local pub with a complimentary pint, available on the Young’s On Tap app from 14th-20th September. Located in the ‘Your Treats’ section, you canchoose either a pint of Young’s Original or Estrella Damm and add to the basket. Apparently you can also opt for a glass of Morandé Colección Privada Sauvignon Blanc, Merlot or Coca-Cola, but really?

Dray Horses at The Phene

Chelsea pub, The Phene, will be leading the celebrations with the return of the dray horses. Once used to deliver Young’s beer across the capital, the iconic Shire horses will be outside the pub from 12pm-3pm on 17th September. If you have never seen a shire horse before, the size and presence of these magnificent beasts may come as something of a surprise. Usefully, The Phene will also be serving up a seasonal three-course lunch menu for just £19.50, including a welcome ½ pint of Young’s Original and selection of nibbles, whilst the Chelsea Pensioners will add to the festivities through song.

Return of RamRod

Finally, to mark its 195th year, Young’s is adding RamRod back on draught at select pubs. Coined after the Dorset Horn ram, RamRod D’Arcy, who once called Young’s brewery home and now proudly sits as its emblem, the beer will be available on draught for a limited run from 17th September at 22 pubs; once it’s gone, it’s gone. Specially brewed by Head Brewer, Simon Perrett, at King Street Brewhouse in Bristol, and made with pale and crystal malt, the 4.5% ABV craft beer balances flavours of biscuit, toast, toffee and dark caramel with a herbal bitterness for a satisfying, malt forward pint.

All for a good cause
