Maître Choux International Coffee Day Eclair
It’s increasingly difficult to avoid the feeling that every single day, week and month of the calendar year has been dedicated to some variation of food or drink.
This coming Saturday (1st October), for instance, has been named International Coffee Day, which is one of the less crazy dedications given the consistent global interest in coffee. With the progression of time, recent years have seen an incredible boom in popularity surrounding coffee of an exceptional quality – especially given the fact that so many self-titled ‘coffee connoisseurs’ now walk among us.
Tying in with International Coffee Day, Maître Choux will add a brand new limited edition éclair to their already outstanding selection, boasting some of London’s prettiest pastries. The first project from French multi award winning pastry chef Joakim Prat – having previously worked in the kitchen of Can Fabes near Barcelona and L’Atelier Joël Robuchon in London –Maître Choux is a patisserie in South Kensington that specialises in éclairs, choux buns and chouqettes, all of which are made in house daily.
Exclusively available on Friday 30th September and Saturday 1st October, Maître Choux’s International Coffee Day offering, in collaboration with Difference Coffee Company, has a filling made with a Jamaica Blue Mountain coffee reduction. Using one of the world’s most sought after and most expensive coffees, this gives a smooth flavour and texture to the chef’s renowned crème patissiere.
What’s more, Maître Choux will be serving only Jamaica Blue Mountain coffee in the bakery on Saturday 1st October, priced at £2.75 for a double espresso (that’s just 75p more than a standard double espresso at Starbucks). The Jamaica Blue Mountain Coffee éclairs will be priced at £4.90 each and are available in store only while stocks last: arrive early to avoid disappointment.
