Some of the most fantastic offers over the last year have been where restaurants have celebrated a long and storied life by offering diners the chance to dine at prices and with menus from when they originally opened. Now one of the latest to do this is a very big name indeed.

Born in 1976 and reborn in 2021, Langan’s in Mayfair is one of the few places that has truly earnt the title “iconic”. It is still wonderful to step into it’s glittering world of British elegance (with a French food tradition), which open for early breakfasts, late night soirées and everything in between.

Now in Langan’s biggest celebration of the year, it is marking its 50th anniversary with a one-day-only celebration on Tuesday 20th October, bringing together food, music, cocktails and five decades of Langan’s history.

Running from 11am through to late, the anniversary will be a full day-to-night affair, bringing the spirit of Langan’s early years to life through a specially curated menu. Selected food and drinks will be available at their original 1976 prices, with starters from £1 and mains from £4.50.

Throughout the day, the brasserie will retain its signature atmosphere, with a live pianist setting the tone in the dining room. The specially curated menu will revisit dishes synonymous with the era, with starters including Avocado Vinaigrette, Parma Ham & Melon and Crab & Prawn Cocktail, followed by classics such as Liver & Bacon with Pomme Purée, Dover Sole, Shepherd’s Pie and Lobster Thermidor. To finish, guests can choose from nostalgic desserts including Rum Baba, Bread & Butter Pudding, Profiteroles au Chocolat and Lemon Meringue Pie.

Guests can enjoy a selection of wines, champagnes and classic cocktails alongside their food, including the French ‘76, a sparkling serve made with cognac and champagne, as well as classics such as the Cosmopolitan and Between the Sheets.

The celebrations will extend upstairs throughout the day, providing the perfect setting for pre- or post-dinner drinks, before transforming into the evening’s main entertainment space. A live band featuring three rotating singers will take guests on a musical journey through the decades, beginning with the 1970s and moving through the eras that have shaped Langan’s, before a DJ takes over and keeps the party going late into the night.

Photo opportunities will feature throughout the day and evening, capturing the celebration and bringing to life the glamour, characters and nostalgia that have become synonymous with Langan’s over the past five decades.

With Langan’s having played host to generations of Mayfair diners, celebrities and London’s social scene since opening its doors in 1976, the anniversary will offer guests the opportunity to celebrate its rich history while experiencing the restaurant as it enters its next chapter.
