Revellers were welcomed by an incredible “wolf moon” above St Paul’s Cathedral on New Years Day.

As party-goers made their way home from a big New Year’s Eve bash the first super moon of the year rose over the iconic London building.

The first Full Moon of the year is named after howling wolves, and appeared red in the sky on the 1st thanks to a total lunar eclipse, also known as a Blood Moon.

The moon was captured at 99.7 per cent behind St Paul’s Cathedral and the City’s skyline, photographed from the Hungerford Bridge in London.
