More than 50 Asian universities are in the top world university ranking when it comes to accounting courses. There are almost 200+ universities in Asia who feature in world rankings, ranging from top 30 to 1000. The best thing about these universities in Asia is their percentage of international students. For example, the top university in Singapore, which also ranks among the top 30 universities in the world, has approximately 50% of students from different nations. One of the most sought after certification courses is “Association of Certified Chartered Accountants”. The ACCA course fees in Singapore vary between 900 SGD to 1500 SGD (as per 2018 data). So, why is this course so important? Well, there are many reasons and we will try to highlight a few of them.

Global recognition

With more than 78 markets and 180 countries, ACCA is recognised globally. There are over 2, 00,000 members across the world. Since its foundation in 1904, this body is more than 114 years old. Naturally, employers do prefer to work with ACCA members. As there are many options to complete this course, you need to zero-down your requirements.

Qualifications

Based on your previous degree and future choices, you can select an appropriate certification. Also, note that the passing rate of this course is normally 30% to 40%. The course structure of the programme varies and it depends on the course applied.

ACCA provides the following certifications: Certification of “Chartered Certified Accountant” which allows you to become a chartered accountant after completion of three years of studies. The certification includes 13 examinations. Foundations in Accountancy (FIA) is also provided by ACCA. Individuals who do not meet the entry requirements for a chartered accountant certification, usually opt for FIA course. Other qualifications include:

  • Certificate in International Financial Reporting
  • Certificate in International Auditing
  • Global MBA
  • Diploma in Financial Management

Asian universities offer all of the above options. As mentioned earlier, many universities (especially in Singapore) offer a partnership with England and USA universities.

We must mention that, if you look at count, Japan has more than 100 universities. Likewise, China houses 72 universities and Singapore leads in the ranking. While there are two or three universities in China ranked globally in the top 30, the number of foreign students varies.

There are various career options offered by all of the above-mentioned institutions.

Some of them are the following:

  • External auditor
  • Internal auditor
  • Forensic Accountant
  • CFO
  • Tax consultant
  • Financial Accountant

Fees and support: there are many finance options available. Needless to say, tuition will vary from country to country. To get a clear picture, you must compare the fees with your home country as that will also help you determine the exact cost.
