The Chancellor, Philip Hammond, is to announce a new 50p coin to signal Britain leaving the EU.
The commemorative coin will be put into circulation on the day of departure from the European project, reports The Sun
The coin would be available from March 29 – the day the UK leaves the EU – and will carry the inscription “Friendship With All Nations”.
A new 50p coin was launched when the UK joined the European Economic Community in 1973 and when the UK held the presidency of the EU in 1998.
A source told the tabloid newspaper: “Brexit is a historic moment which will rightly be commemorated.”
