“If you’re coming to visit Windsor…it’s important to do it with style” The Castle Hotel – Windsor

Windsor is a beautiful city, rich with history and grandeur.

That’s why if you’re coming to visit, it’s important to do it with style.

After all it’s the town that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have chosen as their wedding destination.

If you’re travelling from London, it’s extra convenient. Only an hour away by train or car it’s a quick getaway, but still feels like you’re a million miles away from city life.

And The Castle Hotel by MGallery is right in the heart of this historic and important town.

The hotel

The Castle Hotel is set in a beautiful Georgian building which first opened its doors in 1525.

It’s a stone’s throw from the Castle, which you can see from the window of your hotel room.

Over the years, it’s obviously changed a lot. But spearheading its most recent development is the MGallery collection by Sofitel. They’re a group of boutique hotels all across the globe.

ach hotel is inspired by its own story and this is clear in the Castle Hotel which is rich with history.

It’s decor is modern, but classic, and is adorned with portraits much like those you’d see in Windsor Castle.

The room

The hotel has 108 bedrooms over three floors.

In the words of my partner, it’s the kind of hotel that makes you want to stay inside, because it’s so damn cozy.

While there is loads to do in Windsor, you can visit the castle, have a nosy stroll through Eton, or take a boat ride on the Thames.

There’s also the Guildhall across the road where Prince Charles married Camilla. We even watched two wedding parties celebrate from our room.

What’s great is that nothing to do in Windsor is very far from the hotel. It means you can come back, chill out, and enjoy the warmth without feeling like you’re missing anything out.

The food

The Marco Pierre White restuarant is a huge sell for the hotel.

It’s a classic British food menu, and one of the best meals I’ve ever had at a hotel.

The menu is basic, steakhouse style. But the quality is second to none.

Unable to make any decisions on our own, my partner and I opted to share the warm baked camembert with roast vine cherries as well as the smoked salmon.

After this, we had a Chateaubriand with pommes frites and green beans.

This was probably the best steak I’ve ever had. It was exactly what you’d want in a steak, thick, juicy and melts in your mouth.

As if we weren’t full enough, we had a Eton Mess, which was (probably obviously) created down the road at the exclusive Eton College.

The hard-working staff at The Castle hotel want you to have an amazing time, and emphasise quality and warmth in everything they do.
