2-in-1 devices (aka a tablet with the power of a laptop) are showing no signs of slowing down in popularity. The main benefit to a 2-in-1 device is the ability to use a powerful business operating system, and still be contained within something that has a similar weight to a pack of 3 bananas.

Two recently released devices are the Surface Pro 4 and the iPad Pro. Both have their strengths and weaknesses, but how do the two directly compare?

I decided to put them both through a series of tests; including form factor, how they work with their attached keyboards, audio quality, and business apps interface. Sometimes there was an outright winner, and sometimes there was very little difference between the two.

In my best TV gadget presenter impression, here are the results of our first ‘Device Battles’ episode – Surface Pro 4 vs IPad Pro.

Learn about Surface Pro 4 and the benefits of deploying it in your small to midmarket business.

I interface daily with the sales and technical teams at TSG, our key suppliers and of course most importantly our customers. I sit on a number of Partner Advisor Councils for the likes of Sophos, Symantec and Microsoft. This gives TSG great insight into supplier product roadmaps and also the ability to influence decisions that ultimately benefit our clients.

My main areas of IT interest are Security, Business enablement and Availability planning, which I am most likely to blog about. Saying that all areas of Tech & IT interest me!

My love of IT began in the early 80s with my Dad bringing home an RM 380Z computer (apparently portable!!) and me sitting in front of a 10” green screen for hours.
