The BBC has released a statement on the matter.
The Match of the Day presenter is expected to be back on air on Saturday night amid suggestions he has avoided a suspension.
"They don’t want impartiality, they want to eradicate dissent and replace it with client journalism," James O'Brien said.
The presenter compared the language used to launch the policy with 1930s Germany.
Data shows that the UK ranks 16th when compared with the 27 EU countries for the number of asylum claims granted in 2021.
The presenter has received a lot of support for the comments, he has posted on Twitter today.
The pundit hit out at so-called "free speech champions" after he was reprimanded by the BBC.
