What could Ronaldo buy with his World Cup salary

By Joe Mellor Deputy Editor

The best players are out there in Brazil playing sexy samba football to excite the world. Most of these superstars are paid handsomely by their clubs, but they are also given huge fees to represent their nations, during the month long tournament.

Ronaldo, The 29-year old Portugal superstar, is reportedly earning $490,870 a week, after tax, amounting to a staggering $2,243,997 (USD) to take part in the 32-day event.

But how far does this fortune reach when it comes to real estate? Property portal Lamudi has done the maths. The global real estate website released an infographic (see above) showing how many of the most common sized properties could be purchased in emerging markets, by the Portuguese hot shot.

For the amount that Ronaldo will earn for playing in the tournament, you could purchase a whole settlement of houses in Africa, including not one but an enormous 37 three-bedroom, two-bathroom properties in Madagascar and 27 houses with three bedrooms and one bathroom in Uganda.

In Asia, his World Cup earnings will buy you an impressive 37 three-bedroom, three-bathroom apartments in Pakistan. If you’re more interested in Bangladesh, with the $2,243,997 wage you can purchase 23 apartments of the same size. See below for detailed charts for different nations.
