Liverpool boss Klopp pushes for European glory & also calls to stop Brexit

Tonight Liverpool face Roma in the Semi-finals of the Champions League, the first English side for a number of years to get to this stage.

The game is also a rematch of the 1984 final, when Liverpool beat Rome, in Rome. Many people will remember Liverpool keeper Bruce Grobbelaar’s shaky leg heroics on the penalty shoot out.

Football aside, Liverpool Manager Jurgen Klopp has another European fascination…Brexit.

Speaking to the Guardian he said that Britain should hold a second referendum on leaving the European union, saying that “nobody has any idea how it will work.”

Klopp believes that the UK population did not receive the “right information” and the words said by politicians during the campaign didn’t make any sense.

Like many other, he accepts the EU is far from perfect, but believes that it is still a function the UK should be part of.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp says the UK should have another vote on leaving the European Union because “nobody has any idea how it will work”.

Klopp told The Guardian people should “vote again with the right information” because what was said during the campaign “makes no sense at all”

Klopp added: “We are all influenced by the way only some of the argument is given, and once the decision is taken nobody gives you a real opportunity to change it again.

“The choice was either you stay in Europe, which is not perfect, or you go out into something nobody has any idea how it will work.”

UK Footballers are not known, generally for their political commentary, however ex-Manchester United star David Beckham backed the Remain side, while his ex-England colleague Sol Campbell supported Leave.

However, the Brexit vote has already been decided, and tonight there is only one European battle he can definitely win.

Klopp has asked fans to “show respect” outside Anfield tonight against Roma, and not throw objects at the visiting team’s bus, after the events of the match against Man City, where their team coach was attacked and a window was smashed.
