A new Brazilian Holiday
Remember Brazil’s highly embarrassing loss to Germany in the Semi Final of the World Cup just over a year ago? Of course you do. This week a Brazilian council official has proposed a new kind of ‘holiday’, called ‘A Goal To Germany Day’ intending to remembering that dreadful July 8th.
The idea is that it will take place on one of the days in July every year, allowing the nation a much needed reflection in hope there are better days to come.
New Palestinian Hope From the bizarre, to good news. For the first time in 15 years, teams from the West Bank and Gaza Strip will compete on 6th August against one another in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Cup play-offs. Club encounters as such are a common place in Europe, but this was only made possible after Israel permitted the West Bank side, Al-Ahly from Hebron, to cross its borders, so they can face Al-Shejaiya, a match that could attract around 10,000 spectators. The second leg will take place on Sunday August 9th in Hebron, with the winner competing in the next AFC Cup.
Is Jacques Villeneuve to compete in Formula-E?
An upcoming potential Canadian comeback as the 1997 Formula 1 champion Jacques Villeneuve has been rumoured to compete in the second season of FIA Formula-E.
The 44-year-old has been recently involved with testing for Venturi, one of the teams in the competition and some have speculated he may replace Nick Heidfeld of Germany.
