The Liberal Democrats are reportedly preparing a campaign for a snap election with an idea for the date already in mind.
As per a report from Aubrey Allegretti of The Times, Ed Davey’s party is getting ready to fight a snap election as Labour’s strong polling continues.
The date in mind – 10 December.

Allegretti wrote that the Lib Dems is “getting on a war footing to defend its record number of 72 seats won in 2024”.
The party has seen Labour’s “direction of travel” in the polls and judged it to be all “one way”.
In a memo by party chair Lord Pack which was seen by The Times, the party believe there is a ’30 per cent chance’ that a snap election will be called for 10 December.
This date has been earmarked because it allows ministers a week after the Autumn Budget to prepare legislation to dissolve parliament.
This comes despite constant claims from Burnham that a snap election will not be held before the Labour mandate is up.
However, ministers are reportedly encouraged by strong polling, although Labour would almost certainly be left with a smaller majority, if any majority at all.
According to reports earlier this year, Burnham is said to be leaving the door open for a snap general election in May next year.
