Right-wingers left scratching their head over what broke Britain

Thirteen years of Tory rule and a devastating split from the European Union has got some people wondering what the heck went wrong...

Isabel Oakeshott is among a number of right-wingers who have been left frantically scratching their heads over how Britain has been left in a dire state after 13 years of Tory rule.

The political commentator, who took to ghostwriting Matt Hancock’s memoir in the same way that a bull takes to shopping in a china shop, posted a long list of faults with Britain’s services on X (formerly Twitter), pointing out that the “speed and depth of national decline is breathtaking”.

Roads, railways, schools, GP services, hospitals, airports, housing, borders, prisons and anything involving call centres -all these things are broken in Broken Britain. The speed and depth of national decline is breathtaking

— Isabel Oakeshott (@IsabelOakeshott) September 8, 2023

The Spectator has also become a meme this week after it too tried to address the root causes of “Broken Britain”.

Thankfully there have been a few people on hand to give them a steer in the right direction.

It’s a real mystery isn’t it?
All that control and sovereignty, all that money we no longer send to the EU…and we’re more in the shit than ever.
Almost as if putting a bunch of inept dolts and degenerates in power in a frenzy of prejudice and dishonesty has somehow backfired. pic.twitter.com/4ZpRURkSk4

You played your part in our national decline Oakeshott @IsabelOakeshott, you helped break it. Own it. pic.twitter.com/MVWJR5yXYR

Take a look in the mirror and you’ll see part of the problem.

Journalism in Britain is under threat. The government is becoming increasingly authoritarian and our media is run by a handful of billionaires, most of whom reside overseas and all of them have strong political allegiances and financial motivations.

Our mission is to hold the powerful to account. It is vital that free media is allowed to exist to expose hypocrisy, corruption, wrongdoing and abuse of power. But we can't do it without you.
