Chancellor John Healey took aim at Nigel Farage during his Labour Party conference speech, describing him as “Liz Truss with a Bitcoin account.”
On Monday, the chancellor delivered his keynote speech to the conference in Liverpool, telling those in attendance Labour will bring back hope through a “new age of industrialisation.”
Healey pledged to commit £6bn for British shipyards, and new docks for new submarines will be built “in Britain, by British workers.”
The Labour minister did however warned that the government does not have the same money available as New Labour did in the 1990s, and criticised the Conservative Party for the fiscal situation they left.
This, combined with global economic shocks and trade tensions, meant Healey called for fiscal discipline – something he said Reform UK and the Tories would not offer.

Taking aim at Reform specifically, Healey slammed the party for having “dodgy donors and fantasy funding behind every plan”.
Moving onto their leader, the chancellor roasted Nigel Farage, saying that he “wants you to think he’s a man of the people but when it comes to the economy he’s Liz Truss with a Bitcoin account”.
This was a clear reference to Reform and Farage’s incredibly pro-crypto stance, which has been followed by crypto billionaires donating tens of millions to the party.
