Tributes have been paid after the body of a 75-year-old woman was found near her home in sub-zero conditions during a blizzard.
The pensioner, believed to have been confused shortly before her death, was discovered lying partially under a car at 6am on Thursday (Mar 1) as temperatures plunged during Storm Emma.
Police said there is nothing to suggest her death is suspicious and enquiries are continuing.
They are also appealing for witnesses who may have seen the woman in the early hours and say she could have appeared confused at the time.
A cordon at the scene in Farsley, West Yorks., has now been lifted and the community have laid flowers on the snow-covered grass beside the road.
A stone adorned with ‘RIP’ was also left on the road on top of a bunch of flowers.
The community posted messages of condolence on Facebook after the tragedy.
Betty Keeton posted: “The poor woman. What an awful, awful way pass away. My thoughts are with her family.”
Gemma Price added: “Goodness me, this is heartbreaking. I’m thinking of her family.”
