Travel warnings as Met office issues Amber snow alert

The Met office issued a ‘very significant’ snow warning as Britain hit a winter low of -13.6C last night.

In many parts the snow is now turning to sleet, but continues to settle and spread into the Southern and Eastern parts of Britain.

The Weather warning came with travel alerts as commutes will be affected today with public transport delays and possible strandings on rural roads.

There is an “Amber warning” for snow and ice so drive carefully.

Rail and air travel could be affected so check with travel companies.
