Russian exile Nikolai Glushkov was found dead at his home shortly before 11pm on a Monday evening, an inquest heard.
At the opening of his inquest today (Thurs) West London Coroner’s heard an ambulance was first called to his home in New Malden, south-west London and he was pronounced dead by paramedics.
He died from a compression to the neck.
A murder inquiry has been launched by Scotland Yard.
Coroner’s officer Gary Waple said: “I hereby open the inquest into the death of Nikolai Glushkov, Section 5 of the Coroner’s Justice Act 1989.
“The body of the subject Nikolai Glushkov was found at Clarence Avenue. He is a male aged 68 born on 24 December 1949 in Russia.
“I understand the circumstances to be the Metropolitan Police was instructed by the London Ambulance Service at 22.46 on 12 March after the deceased was found dead at his home address.
“Paramedics from the London Ambulance Service pronounced life extinct art 22.48 at the scene.
“A forensic post mortem was carried out on March 15 at Kingston Hospital and a pathologist found the cause of death to be 1A compression to the neck.”
Assistant coroner Richard Furniss said: “I now have to adjourn this inquest pending further police investigation and enquiries.”
Reports claim the body was found hanging by his daughter Natalia, who has since gone into hiding.
