Police have arrested two teenagers after moped attack that left woman fighting for life

Police have arrested two teenagers after a woman was left fighting for her life when she was punched in the face while being mugged.

Cops say the 24-year-old victim hit her head after falling backwards when she was punched in the face by thugs as she bravely tried to hold on to her phone and bag.

The woman was walking along a tree lined residential street in Edgware, north London, when she was approached by two thugs on a moped in north London just after 9pm on Monday.

She hit her head during the fall in remains in a “critical” condition while her assailants remain at large.

Detectives arrested two boys aged 17 and 18 years on suspicion of robbery on Thursday.

A Met Police spokesperson said: “On Thursday, 7 June, officers arrested two males aged 17 and 18 years on suspicion of robbery.

“They have been taken to a north London police station where they remain at this time.

“Police were called at approximately 21:10hrs on Monday, 4 June to reports of a woman injured following a moped enabled robbery in Holyrood Gardens, Edgware.

“The woman, aged 24 was approached by two males on a moped.

“The pillion passenger struggled with the victim and then the rider of the moped dismounted and punched her and stole her mobile phone and bag.

“The males made off on the moped in the direction of Stag Lane.”
