Mother seriously wounded in front of children in a triple stabbing in east London

A mother was seriously wounded and the father slashed in front of their children in a triple stabbing in east London yesterday afternoon.

The woman in her 30s was left fighting for her life but is now in a stable condition in hospital following the attack in Leyton.

The two men with her were slashed in the attack on Church Road but did not suffer serious injuries.

No arrests have been made and investigations continue.

And a hour and a quarter before in a separate incident a man in his 20s was left fighting for his life after he was stabbed three miles away in Forest Gate.

He was treated by air ambulance doctors and paramedics before being taken to hospital where he remains in a critical but stable condition.

A man was arrested on suspicion of GBH.

A Scotland Yard spokesman said: “Police were called to Church Road, Leyton at 3.37pm on Saturday, 5 January following reports of a man injured.

“Officers and London Ambulance Service attended and found a woman with stab injuries and two men with slash wounds.

“They have been taken to an east London hospital for treatment.

“The woman, aged in her 30s, is in a stable condition; her injuries are no longer believed to be life-threatening.

“Both men’s injuries are not life-threatening.

“No arrests have been made. A crime scene is in place. Police in Waltham Forest continue to deal. Enquiries continue.”

He added: “Police were called at approximately 2.15pm on Saturday, 5 January to a report of a stabbing on Field Road, Forest Gate.

“Officers attended along with the London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance.

“A man, aged in his 20s, was found suffering from stab injuries. He was taken to an east London hospital, where he remains in a critical but stable condition.

“A man has been arrested on suspicion of GBH. He is currently in custody at an east London hospital.

“Officers from North East Area Command Unit are investigating. Enquiries are ongoing.”
