Jeremy Kyle Show suspended after guest dies

Monday’s Jeremy Kyle show was pulled at the last minute after a guest died after appearing on the daytime talk show.

ITV have confirmed that the controversial tabloid show in which people air personal conflicts which airs at 9.25am weekdays will be replaced by Dickinson’s Real Deal and suspended while an investigation is carried out.

A statement by ITV explained:

“Everyone at ITV and The Jeremy Kyle Show is shocked and saddened at the news of the death of a participant in the show a week after the recording of the episode they featured in and our thoughts are with their family and friends.

“ITV will not screen the episode in which they featured.

“Given the seriousness of this event, ITV has also decided to suspend both filming and broadcasting of The Jeremy Kyle Show with immediate effect in order to give it time to conduct a review of this episode of the show.”

An industry insider told The Sun an investigation needed to take place.

“It’s everyone’s worst nightmare, and something that is taken extremely seriously by all involved,” they said. “Jeremy and the team are extremely proud of the show and the aftercare which guests receive, and in 14 years on air there has never been an incident like this.

“It’s very saddening, but of course all involved understand that an investigation needs to take place before any more decisions can be taken about the future.”

A special celebrity edition, featuring former EastEnders star Danniella Westbrook and X Factor singer Christopher Maloney, has also been suspended as the investigation is carried out.
