Manhunt after woman endured” serious sexual assault” in London’s square mile

A sex fiend who subjected a woman to a ‘nasty’ assault just yards away from an iconic City market is being hunted by detectives.

The victim, in her 30s, suffered a “‘serious sexual assault” by Leadenhall Market in the centre of London’s square mile in the early hours of Friday morning.

City of London Police said: “At approximately 3.30am on Friday, December 7, the City of London Police received a report of a serious sexual assault in St Michael’s Alley.

“Detectives are investigating and are keen to speak to anybody who was in the area at the time who may have witnessed anything suspicious.

“The victim, a woman in her 30s, is being supported by specially trained officers as the investigation continues.”

Detective Chief Inspector Anna Rice said: “This was a nasty incident which we will investigate fully.

“The victim is being supported by specially trained officers as we continue with our investigation.

“I also want to reassure City residents and those who come into the City to work and socialise, that a full investigation is underway.

“We’re now asking the public for their help – if anyone was in the area and saw anything please get in touch.”
