Knife-wielding thugs rampage at Surrey Sainsbury’s

Teenage thugs armed with knives went on the rampage at a Sainsbury’s supermarket.

Police say the gang hurled bottles at a man outside the store in Walton-on-Thames, Surrey, last night (MON).

At least one of the yobs entered the shop armed with a knife just before 10pm.

A police officer was injured as four youths, aged 17 to 19, were arrested.

Three of the gang fled as a fourth teen was arrested in the shop entrance – but they were later arrested.

Surrey Police have released CCTV footage of a brown-haired white youth they would like to speak with in relation to the attack.

He is described as 5ft 11 ins, of large build and is aged between 16 and 18.

Sgt James Edwards, of Surrey Police, said: “Thanks to the quick work of officers, we were able to detain four suspects in relation to this incident.

“We are keen for witnesses to come forward and tell us what you saw and to help us build a better picture of what happened.

“It is believed the suspects were in the area of the shop prior to this incident.

“We are also keen to speak to anyone who recognises the man in the CCTV image as we believe he may be able to help us with our enquiries.”
