The far-right Minister of National Security in Benjamin Netanyahu’s government has called for the killing of “30 to 40” Palestinians per night.

While speaking on the first episode of the podcast The 8 October, Itamar Ben-Gvir and host Rom Braslavski the minister criticised Israel for its reduction on Gaza strikes, Al Jazeera reports.

“It’s no secret, I disagree with the prime minister,” he said. “I think targeted assassinations should be carried out in Gaza, taking down 30 to 40 every night.”

“Not just those who pose an immediate threat, there are people there who are not worthy of life. They shouldn’t live. They’re not even people,” added Ben-Gvir.

The far-right politician also encouraged the mass emigration into Gaza, stating he views the strip as a part of Israel.

Local media also has made scarce mention of the statement, highlighting extremist political ideologists such as Ben-Gvir as surging election leaders.

Figures such as Ben-Gvir have become popular among the Israeli population since the 7 October attacks.

Although the Minister does not have power over the country’s military and cannot order strikes on the Palestinian people, he still retains a powerful voice among the population.

“I see all of Gaza as ours,” said Ben-Gvir in the interview.

“Settlements not just in Gush Katif but throughout Gaza, encouraging as much emigration as possible,” he added.

“Sending them to their countries, and for the terrorists, no emigration, nothing, just to kill them one by one.”

Israel denies committing genocide in Gaza in its military offensive, which has killed over 100,000 people over the last two years.

Last year a United Nations commission of inquiry concluded that Israel has committed genocide in Gaza.
