The father of one of three British girls who joined ISIS in 2015 has pleaded for relatives of Shamima Begum to get in touch with him.
Hussen Abase, 52, said he had no means of contacting her family for news of his daughter, Amina Abase.
The dad of three security guard spoke out from his home today (Fri) after heavily pregnant Ms Begum asked to be returned to the UK to have her baby.
She suggested Ms Abase was still alive, while the third of the Bethnal Green schoolgirls from east London to fly to Syria, Kadiza Sultana, had died in an air strike.
Ethiopian born Mr Abase, of Stepney, east London, who is a German National and moved to the UK in 1999, said: “We don’t know what’s going on.
“I don’t know how to contact them.
“As a father I hope to speak to her. I haven’t since she left.
“[The report] It gave me some encouragement to just talk and find out something.
“It gave me a positive feeling that I could find my daughter.
“I would like them to contact me if possible so I can know more about what’s happening.”
Asked why she should be allowed to return to the UK, Mr Abase, who also has a 13-year-old son and 17-year-old daughter, said: “Because she’s my daughter, it’s as simple as that.
“I don’t ask people – they can stay with their opinions and the government can stay with its decision, despite that, I haven’t heard from my daughter.
“I shouldn’t give these opinions but what I say is I’m not going to beg anyone except Allah.
“It doesn’t mean I’m upset with the general public or the government.
“I’m very grateful that this country allowed me to live here, I work and I live my life.
“They can say, ‘we don’t want you’ tomorrow and I will still say I’m very grateful.”
