“Don’t know” overtakes Theresa May in poll of who people want as Prime Minister. But it’s not good news for Jeremy Corbyn either…

For the first time the Prime Minister has fallen behind not sure in an opinion poll of who would make the best Prime Minister.

After a shockingly bad Conservative Party Conference in which Theresa May was handed a P45 on stage, and during which it was revealed that most Tory members want her to resign, this poll confirms her unpopularity.

But embarrassingly for the leader of the Opposition, Jeremy Corbyn is also in joint second, behind Don’t Know which was chosen by 35% of those polled by YouGov for The Times.

Though Labour remain at 42%, with the Tories dropping a point to 39% and staying second place in a damning verdict on the Party Conference season.

Just 18% of remain voters favour Theresa May, though the majority of leave voters still favour the Tory leader.

Jeremy Corbyn is a hit with women, with 33% backing the Labour leader and opposed to 30% who favour Theresa May.
