Bookies now offering odds on what the government will ration first in 2019

Bookmakers have officially started to offer odds on what the UK government will officially ration first in 2019.

Irish bookie PaddyPower has released odds on 14 items that could be rationed after Britain exits the European Union.

Fuel is odds-on favourite to be rationed first, with odds as slim as 15/2.

That’s followed by milk, bread, olive oil, cheese and coffee.

Luxury items such as red and white wine, Prosecco and Champagne also made the list.

According to the bookmaker the UK officially announcing food rationing in 2019 is priced at just 11/1.

Last year it was announced that the government is planning to stock up on processed foods in case we crash out of the European Union, which is looking like an increasingly likely scenario.

It also announced stockpiles of medicines, medical devices and blood will be collected in preparation for a Brexit no-deal.
