An ‘elderly’ man has died in hospital after being found in a duck pond.

Emergency services rushed to the scene this morning (Feb 11) of an incident in Tiptree duck pond, in Essex where police have cordoned off.

Images circulating online show a police presence of three cars and a cordon surrounding the entire pond – where locals regularly feed the fish and birds.

Detectives investigating into the incident and described the death as “unexplained”.

Paramedics and police officers were both spotted at the scene of the incident, which happened at around 7.30am near the Grove Pond on Church Road, Tiptree, Essex.

The man was transported to Colchester General Hospital, Essex where he died.

Concerned local residents took to social media to speculate about the incident.

Friends of Tiptree Village Facebook page wrote: “Have just driven past the duck pond and seen all the crime scene tape and the two police officers guarding the scene.

“I hear that whatever happened went down around 8.30am today and it involved paramedics and a stretcher. I sincerely hope that it won’t end up in any loss of life”.
