Woman, 68, fourth cyclist to die on London’s roads in six weeks

A pensioner has become fourth cyclist to die on London’s roads in six weeks after she was fatally injured in a collision with a car towing a trailer.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident in Earl’s Court at around 3.45pm yesterday (TUES) afternoon.

The 68-year-old cyclist, who hasn’t been named, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A Met Police spokesman said: “Officers from the Met’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit are appealing for witnesses to a fatal collision.

“Police were called at 3.45pm to Warwick Road, Earl’s Court, to reports of a pedal cycle in collision with a car towing a trailer.

“The female cyclist, aged 68, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. Next of kin has been informed.”

He added: “The driver of the car stopped at the scene. There have been no arrests.”

The victim is the fourth cyclist to die on London’s roads this year, all of whom have been killed in the last six weeks. A total of 11 cyclists were killed in the capital last year.
