Kent thug smashed drinker so hard he needed to have skull glued back together

A thug smashed a drinker in the head with a hammer so hard he needed to have his skull glued back together.

Ben Willison stormed into his local boozer and battered two men with a heavy hammer – leaving both needing serious medical treatment.

The 37-year-old, from Rochester, Kent, swung the heavy mallet at his victims ten times, leaving them with severe facial injuries.

Willison pleaded guilty to wounding with intent, attempting to cause grievous bodily harm and possession of an offensive weapon.

He was sentenced to six years in prison at Maidstone Crown Court on Friday.

Investigating officer DC Martin Taylor said: “Willison’s sole aim was to cause as much harm as possible to both victims.

“Not only did he attend the venue armed with a potentially lethal weapon, he swung it multiple times and it is fortunate that the injuries sustained were not more serious.

“His behaviour that night was inexcusable and the sentence is entirely justified.”

Willison was asked to leave the high street pub in Rochester following an earlier dispute when he became verbally abusive towards the two men and a woman they were sitting with.
