Fly-tipper dumps whopping “50 tonnes” of rubbish outside Scottish Environment Protection Agency HQ

A brazen fly-tipper has dumped a whopping “50 tonnes” of rubbish – outside the HQ of Scotland’s Environment Protection Agency.

The mountain of junk – building materials, rubble and household rubbish – was flung metres from the regulatory body’s HQ.

It was strewn across a car park just two doors down from SEPA in Ayr, Scotland – the body responsible for policing flytippers.

Locals said the land and the heap could be seen from the windows the environment protection agency – and must have taken a number of DAYS to pile up, earlier this week.

A local source said: “It’s a joke. How have they not noticed?

“They are supposed to be protecting the environment, but someone has managed to dump 50 tonnes of rubbish under their noses.

“You couldn’t make it up.

“I’ve heard the upper windows in the Scottish Environment Protection Agency even overlook the land it is dumped on.”

A spokesman from the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) said: “Every day SEPA works to protect and enhance Scotland’s environment.

“SEPA received notification from South Ayrishire Council on 16 April 2019 about waste deposits at 21/23 Miller Road, Ayr.

“SEPA officers have attended the premises and are currently carrying out an investigation into this.

“We would advise members of the public who witness fly-tipping or wish to report a waste offence to contact the dedicated Dumb Dumpers Stopline on 0845 2 30 40 90.”

South Ayrshire Council has been approached for comment.
