Donald Trump has once again mocked Prime Minister Keir Starmer as he commented on his reportedly imminent resignation, saying that he “failed badly”.

Amid reports that Starmer is considering his future as prime minister, Trump was quick to have another dig – one of many in the last few months.

In a post on his platform Truth Social on Sunday, Trump said that Starmer will step down, ending the statement with “I wish him well!”.

The American leader said that Starmer “failed badly on immigration and energy.”

“Keir Starmer will resign as Prime Minister of The United Kingdom. He failed badly on two very important subjects- IMMIGRATION AND ENERGY (OPEN NORTH SEA OIL!). I wish him well!” Trump wrote.

Stramer is reportedly considering stepping down as Prime Minister after Andy Burnham won the Makerfield by-election, securing his return to parliament and allowing him to potentially launch election to the British parliament, which prompted more ministers in the governing Labour Party to call for Starmer’s exit.

As he trounced Reform UK at last week’s by-election in the Greater Manchester seat, Burnham will be sworn in as an MP on Monday, and is due to meet the prime minister early this week.

Trump once called Starmer a ‘loser’

According to a report in The Telegraph, Trump once called Keir Starmer a “loser” in conversations with friends.

A source told the publication that the US president made the comments at a private dinner earlier this year.

Meanwhile, in March, Trump posted a comedy sketch from the new UK version of Saturday Night Live (SNL), which mocked Starmer.

The sketch, which aired as part of the new SNL UK show on Sky, showed Starmer receiving a call from Trump and subsequently cowering to the US president.

Trump later even ripped into Keir Starmer with an impersonation of the PM, in a video at a private event which was leaked online.

The skit opens with Starmer (played by George Fouracres) saying to David Lammy: “Oh golly, what if Donald shouts at me? What do I say Lammy?”

Starmer, meanwhile, just months ago said that he is “fed up” with Donald Trump, as he blamed the American president for pushing up the cost of living.

The PM criticised Trump’s actions which led to pushing up energy bills for households and businesses, while he compared the US-Israeli war in Iran to Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine
