The Weekly Cocktail Recipe – El Bandito’s ‘Watermelon Frozen Margarita’

With a strong focus on high-quality tequilas and mezcals, the El Bandito pop-up in Shoreditch follows the success of the permanent, highly-acclaimed Liverpool bar. Opened last month, the bar showcases a selection of approximately 50 tequilas and 25 mezcals, plus an extensive cocktail list.

Designed by the team, which also includes recent Class nominated best newcomer Joe Wild, the drinks menu aims to educate drinkers about these often-misunderstood spirits, with the original opening amongst the first UK bars to be awarded official ‘Mezcaleria’ status by Del Maguey Single Village Mezcal.  From the menu, the ‘Watermelon Frozen Margarita’ is a fresh take on a classic: combining Ocho tequila with watermelon, agave syrup and lime, the drink is ideal for the coming summer months.

Ingredients

2 oz Lime juice

½ oz Agave syrup

½ oz Watermelon syrup

1½ oz Ocho tequila

To Garnish

Lime wheel

Watermelon chunk

Method

Add all ingredients to a cocktail glass and shake. Pour into a glass, over crushed ice, and serve.
