The Weekly Cocktail Recipe – ‘Greta Garbo’ from Difford’s Guide: 365 Days of Cocktails

By Jonathan Hatchman, Food Editor, @TLE_Food

Set up as an evolution from the regular Cocktail of the Day on diffordsguide.com, which was inspired by a trip to Barcelona back in 2009, the new ‘Difford’s Guide: 365 Days of Cocktails’ features an expansive selection of drinks with one perfectly fitting for every day of the year. What’s more there’s also an insightful introduction with an idiot-proof guide to Cocktail crafting, ideal for even the most inexperienced of home mixologists.

Beginning with an aptly named ‘Hair of the Dog’ for New Year’s Day, and ranging all of the way through to a Champagne-based tipple for New Year’s Eve, and everything in between. There’s ‘Honey Bee Mine’ for Valentine’s Day, specially crafted drinks for Mother’s and Father’s Day, Halloween, Bonfire Night and Christmas, with some interesting, less popular dates also included, not forgetting ‘Darth Jager’ for May 4th (Star Wars Day), making this book the perfect gift for the discerning drinker and a true kitchen/bar bookshelf essential.

Today’s special Cocktail, taken from the book, is the ‘Greta Garbo’, tying in with the birthdate of the Cinema icon: featuring a concoction of white rum, maraschino liqueur, sugar syrup, lime and Pernod.

Sugar syrup, ½ shot

Lime juice, 1 shot

Pernod, 1/8 shot
