The Weekly Cocktail Recipe – Vintage Velvet ‘Lady Marmalade’

Launched last year, Vintage Velvet is a new vodka created by Gabriella Thorpe, having previously gained significant knowledge of the drinks industry working for a high demographic wine journal.

Inspired by a love of English spirits and the boom in popularity of English wine in recent years, Vintage Velvet is crafted with locally sourced Chardonnay grape juice to produce a unique double distilled spirit. As a result of the distilling process, this is the first vodka of this kind in the UK, created in small batches using all-natural and all-British ingredients, with the ‘vintage’ reference referring to the juice used from the perfect English harvest of Chardonnay grapes.

With notes of caramel and a lasting buttery finish, Vintage Velvet can be enjoyed as a straight chilled serve, as well as pairing well with rose lemonade, elderflower and in a number of cocktails. ‘Lady Marmalade’, for instance, is a Christmas cocktail that’s easy to make at home, teaming the vodka with Cointreau, cinnamon syrup and marmalade.
