Beer of the Week – Roux Brew 2015

By Jonathan Hatchman, Food Editor, @TLE_Food

With 17 choices now on offer, Michel Roux Jr.’s two Michelin-starred Le Gavroche was one of the first quality eateries to establish a Beer List within the restaurant. And off the back of their first Roux Brew, in partnership with Bermondsey’s Fourpure Brewing Co, Roux Brew 2015 is now available.

Inspired by the seasonal summer farmhouse beers of Northern France and Southern Belgium, the golden beer is light, yet packs a huge flavour. Combining aromatic Citrus and Black Pepper notes, the beer is dry and refreshing (perfect for the current heat we’re experiencing). While Roux Brew 2015 is light and aromatic, Fourpure have combined three types of Malt (Lager, Vienna, and Wheat) to add a little more structure, as proposed by Michel himself, while the Hops used for the brewing process are of the German variety – Saphir, renowned for refined aroma and a mild flavour.

Roux Brew is now available from Le Gavroche, Roux at The Landau, and Roux at Parliament Square. The beer is also available from a selection of London distributors, including Dulwich Vintners, Hop Burns & Black, Caps and Taps, Mother Kelly’s, and We Brought Beer.
