6 Ethical Tips For Your Business

By Daniel Le Grange

It can really make a difference when your business establishes meaningful relationships and makes ethical decisions. Whatever decisions your business makes will strongly affect it’s standing, whether it be in a negative or positive light.  Nobody wants to be associated with a company that acts unethically.

So what can make your business stand out from others? Simply being ethical can really pay off not only to better your company’s reputation but also create new affiliations that drive more attention to your business. By doing good, you will lead by example and earn respect from peers, clients, and earn respect in the industry. As quoted by Business Case Studies, “A creative and well managed corporate and social responsibility programme is in the best interests of all our stakeholders – not just our consumers – but also our shareowners, employees, customers, suppliers and other business partners who work together with us.” Here are just a few moral and fun ways you can benefit your business!

Honesty & Respect

This is the most important aspect to keeping your business on the right track.  Honesty is the key to winning over colleagues and clients.  Without it there is no trust, which will sooner or later lead to failure.  From the start, a team that is recognized as honest will get you very far.  Respecting fellow colleagues and clients is a two way street!  If your business respects others, they will most likely give it back in return!

Support Locally

Everyone loves a Christmas party during the holidays!  Whether it is a party or other corporate event, use support local caterers, venues, florists, etc. in your area.  Try to connect with local charitable enterprises too.

SHARE

It’s not showing off!  Don’t be afraid to tell your clients what you are doing to give back to the community.  This social media can drive traffic to your firm as well, so post it to your Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr accounts!  Clients like to see the good their partners are doing and want to be affiliated with a business that has quality and personal relationships with the community.

Team Volunteering

It’s the holidays!  And it’s fun to go on outings with your team.  There are always plenty of places you can volunteer at in your neighbourhood to help the community.  Your company is not only giving back, but you gain respect in the industry and in your business.

Go Green

Even though you may be buying a tree for the holidays, do remember to save trees in the office by recycling your paper and plastic.  A business can go through thousands of papers on a weekly basis.  Printing less can save you a lot of money too.  For consumer businesses and start-ups especially, savvy companies are becoming more reputable by using electronic over print.

Give

During a long and hectic day of work, there’s nothing like receiving a box of chocolates, kettle corn, or chocolate cake to the office.  It doesn’t have to be grand at all, but sending a little something to clients can really strengthen ties.  They will appreciate it-and remember that afternoon delivery pick-me-up!
