Surrey cautiously optimistic for new season

Sport News 24/7 By Richard de Winter @rgdewinter  @TLE_Sport The World T20 tournament may have only just finished, and Carlos Brathwaite’s final six may only just be beginning its downward trajectory (probably colliding with Jaap Stam’s penalty from Euro 2000 on the way), but fear not, you won’t be without...

Sport News 24/7 By Billy Stephens  @BillyLaughs  @TLE_Sport With Sunderland and Newcastle sat 18th and 19th respectively in the league table before kick-off, the Tyne-Wear derby was a massive relegation six-pointer and the 1-1 draw was a huge disappointment for both teams. Norwich’s 0-1 away win at West Brom the...

Six Nations Team of the Tournament

Sport News 24/7 By David de Winter - Sports Editor @davidjdewinter  @TLE_Sport Let’s be honest, it has been a far from vintage Six Nations.  There have been sporadic moments of skill but, on the whole, it has been a forgettable tournament for most concerned, save England obviously.  However, even England...

Can Benitez save Newcastle?

Sport News 24/7 By David de Winter - Sports Editor @TLE_Sport  @davidjdewinter ‘How not to run a football club.’  This would surely be the title of Newcastle United’s memoirs of the last 10 years.  They are the gift that keeps on giving – a soap opera that is so unbelievable...

NBA Western Conference round-up

Sport News 24/7 By Sean Simara  @Sean_FootyMad  @TLE_Sport The Western Conference has been overshadowed by one man and one team: Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors.  It has been record breaking stuff from him and the side – unbeaten runs, points scoring, OT wins, 3 pointers from what seems...

Sport News 24/7 By Richard de Winter  @rgdewinter  @TLE_Sport Another week gone, another set of results that maintain Leicester City’s position of comfortable leaders of the Premier League.  The story has developed from ‘how long can they keep this run going?’ to ‘at this rate they might even make the...

Six Nations – Crunch Time

Sport News 24/7 By David de Winter - Sports Editor @davidjdewinter  @TLE_Sport OK, let’s be honest, the 2016 Six Nations hasn’t been the most enthralling edition of the famous old tournament in recent memory.  In fact, it’s been downright dull, demonstrating the huge gulf in class between the northern and...

Sport News 24/7 By Rob McHugh  @mchughr  @TLE_Sport Since its inception in 1996, the English Super League has been dominated by a cartel of four clubs who remain the only winners of the trophy.  Leeds Rhinos, St. Helens, Wigan Warriors and Bradford Bulls have won every single Super League title...

Sport News 24/7 By Rob Mchugh  @mchughr  @TLE_Sport There are few teams in world cricket that go through the rollercoaster ride of highs and lows which England have experienced in the recent past, and this year’s tour to South Africa was no different.  A series which began with a morale...

Tottenham Hotspur – genuine title contenders

Sport News 24/7 By David de Winter - Sports Editor @davidjdewinter  @TLE_Sport Way back in August, in this very publication, I rather rashly predicted that Leicester City were certainties for relegation and that Spurs would finish outside the top four, in either 5th or 6th place.  Well, as these two...

Sport News 24/7 By David de Winter - Sports Editor @TLE_Sport  @davidjdewinter Despite losing the final Test, England’s cricketers still acquitted themselves admirably by beating (former) world number one side South Africa 2-1 on their home patch.  They dominated the admittedly mediocre Proteas in Durban and Johannesburg and were resilient...
