Donald Trump’s ‘spiritual advisor’ compares him to Jesus at Easter event

Beyond parody

Donald Trump’s ‘spiritual advisor’ caused a stir last night after comparing the US president to Jesus at an Easter event.

As Easter weekend approaches, Donald Trump is once again in the headlines for some rather rogue things being said concerning the 47th president of the United States.

Hosting a special Easter event at the White House with spiritual leaders, Trump’s spiritual advisor, Paula White-Cain compared Jesus’ trials and tribulations told in the Bible, to those of Donald Trump – unsurprisingly to plenty of social media backlash.

Speaking at the event, White-Cain said: “Jesus taught so many lessons through his death, burial and resurrection. He showed us great leadership, great transformation requires great sacrifice.

“And Mr. President, no one has paid the price like you have paid the price. It almost cost you your life.”

She added: “You were betrayed and arrested and falsely accused. It’s a familiar pattern that our Lord and Saviour showed us.”

“But it didn’t end there for him, and it didn’t end there for you.

“God always had a plan. On the third day, he rose, he defeated evil, he conquered death, hell and the grave. And because he rose, we all know that we can rise. And sir, because of his resurrection, you rose up,” she added.

“And I believe that the Lord said to tell you this – because of his victory, you will be victorious in all you put your hands to,” she told Trump.

Cain-White has been slammed by social media users, who called the speech “blasphemy and “insanity.”

This is blasphemy. This is what it sounds like to take Jesus’ name in vain. https://t.co/1zQt1h54Lr

Blasphemous. It’s stunning to see a US Bishop standing right there on the stage while Paula White compares Trump to Jesus Christ. https://t.co/1OxY4bWTbT

Trump’s chief spiritual advisor Paula White teaches today that Trump was falsely accused and resurrected…like Jesus Christ.

This is insanity. https://t.co/eT0EVamcNS

Then, as if it wasn’t bad enough having your spiritual advisor compare you to Jesus, he only went and did it himself afterwards.

Speaking at the event, Trump said: “On Palm Sunday, Jesus entered Jerusalem as crowds welcomed him with praise honouring him as king. They call me king now. Can you believe it?”

The remarks came in reference to the ‘No Kings’ protests that took place across America this week in protest of Trump ever-increasingly authoritarian approach to government.

There is one comparison we’d be willing to make between Trump and Jesus though…
