Thousands of EU flags were spotted at the Last Night of the Proms in what is becoming a time-honoured tradition.

The classical music festival drew to a close at the Royal Albert Hall last night after another successful summer of shows featuring musicians from around the world.

Director David Pickard said it was the first “really full” Last Night since 2019, following Covid and the Queen’s death.

Crowds sang along, waved flags, and stomped their feet, including to Rule, Britannia!

But it was the high number of EU flags that really got people talking after campaigners managed to drop off thousands ahead of the show.

We are unloading! Thousands of 🇪🇺🇪🇺free flags for Prommers at tonight's #LNotP Last Night of the BBC Proms, handed out in support of Brexit impacted musicians.

People were quick to take to X (formerly Twitter) with pictures of inside the Albert Hall.

Here’s a pick of the best:

Getting shitloads of EU flags into Royal Albert Hall for Last Night of the Proms is the best marketing activation of the decade. Gongs all round for all concerned. pic.twitter.com/CKqoe1O6ie

Britain isn't the Land of Hope and Glory.

It is the land of misery and despair, corruption and greed.

Which is why everyone is flying EU Flags at the #lastnightoftheproms pic.twitter.com/Y1gtWvXWqY
