Kim Kardashian: Selfish

Do you follow Kim Kardashian on Instagram? Don’t answer that. I’ve taken the mantle and followed her for you. I can confirm here and now, exclusively, that Kim Kardashian’s Instagram is mostly pictures of Kim Kardashian. I know this will come as a shock to you, so please feel free to take a moment. For those of you who don’t follow her on Instagram – or indeed have Instagram on your phone – don’t worry! Kim is releasing a book called ‘Selfish’for the bargain price of $19.95 which is a collection of ‘selfies’she’s taken. The book is 352 pages. Three hundred and fifty two pages. That’s $0.05 approx per page. Has there ever been a better deal?!

What’s interesting is that in recent episodes of Keeping up with the Kardashians (and I’m using ‘interesting’quite loosely here) Kim has been criticised by her family for taking so many ‘selfies’. Then, as if by magic, this book appears on the virtual bookshelves of Amazon. It’s easy to be cynical and draw parallels with this and the episode in which Kris Jenner was extolling the virtues of her own cooking skills only to announce the following week that she was releasing a cookery book…but that’s just a coincidence, isn’t it? It’s all just one big happy coincidence.

Taylor Swift thinks a Chipotle costs $90

Gawker picked up on a story recently in which Taylor Swift, dressed to the nines, took a casual little stroll through Central Park in New York and came across some fans boating on the lake. She stopped to take photos with them because I’m pretty sure her bones are made of fairy dust and her thoughts are all rainbows and she’s potentially the nicest person in country/pop crossover music. ‘That’s sweet,’I hear you think, ‘you hear of celebrities being so rude sometimes’. You’re right, dear reader, you do! But to add shooting stars to all those rainbows, Taylor Swift was then pictured taking money from her purse and giving it to the fan.

This was then verified over Twitter with the girls in question confirming that yes, Taylor Swift did get her photo taken with them and yes, Taylor Swift did then give them money. Allegedly, the girls told Swift they were going to Chipotle for lunch and Swift plunged her hand into her adorable little purse and handed them a sheaf of notes, totalling $90. $90 is a lot of Chipotle for a couple of girls, surely? It would be easy to dismiss Swift as another obscenely rich celebrity who doesn’t know what anything costs in the real world, but I actually think she just might be nice and generous and only had large denomination bills in her darling little handbag.

Everyone’s getting excited about Daniel Radcliffe

Daniel Radcliffe said in a recent interview that he ‘wasn’t very good’in the early Harry Potter films. I’m absolutely 100% certain he’s said this in interviews before but for no reason many news sources have picked up on it and are making their views known. If you read the full article you’ll see that Radcliffe actually makes a perfectly rational statement about not being a proficient actor at age 11, but that doesn’t make for good copy so people have been blowing it out of proportion.

I’m inclined to agree with his self-analysis. His acting in the first couple of Harry Potter films is minimal; he was a child plucked from school and placed into one of the biggest film franchises ever. He also addresses that he thinks he’s becoming a lot more skilled at his craft and gives a perfectly well rounded answer to a standard interview question. As I say, I’m sure I’ve heard this answer before and not been forced to read recycled soundbites on different websites purporting it to be ‘news’, but is it what it is and I’ve managed to give it more space here.
