A police officer is to face a misconduct hearing amid claims that he tried to travel on a train for free.
PC Damian Groves, from West Yorkshire Police, is due to attend the hearing next week after claiming he was undercover when he wasn’t.
He is accused of breaching the force’s Standards of Professional Behaviour.
It’s alleged that in April and May he got on board an East Coast mainline train between Leeds and Peterborough.
When the guard asked him for his ticket he got out his warrant card and claimed he was travelling in order to conduct undercover work.
However, West Yorkshire Police said he wasn’t on duty on the day and did not have permission to use his warrant card to travel.
