A murder hunt is underway after a young man found with knife wounds in London’s East End earlier today died in hospital.
The victim, believed to be in his twenties, was discovered in the trendy Hoxton area of Shoreditch – popular with late night clubbers – just before 6.30am.
He was rushed to hospital, but was pronounced dead a few hours later.
The area around the Kingsland Road junction with Waterson Street remains cordoned off.
It is understood to be the 128th murder inquiry launched in London this year.
A Met Police spokesman said: “Officers, London Air Ambulance and paramedics attended and found a man in his twenties suffering from stab injuries.
“He was taken to a central London hospital in a critical condition. He died in hospital a few hours later. His next of kin have been informed.
“A post-mortem examination will be held in due course. Formal identification awaits.”
He added: A crime scene remains in place.
“As part of this scene, temporary road closures are also in effect and motorists are advised to avoid the area.
“No arrests have been made. Enquiries into the full circumstances are ongoing.
“The Homicide and Major Crime Command will be investigating along with police in Hackney.”
