Farage spat with Coutts shortlisted for ‘Scoop of the Year’ at the BJA

Nigel Farage’s very public spat with the prestigious bank Coutts has been shortlisted for the ‘Scoop of the Year’ at the British Journalism Awards.

The former UKIPer announced earlier this year that the Nat West bank had moved to shut down his account because his political beliefs did not align with theirs.

He was dubbed a ‘racist, xenophobic, disingenuous grifter’ in a leaked memo, and said he was treated “like war criminal” during the saga.

Farage has since found a new financial home with Lloyds bank, but his high-profile struggles have not been in vain.

The Press Gazette recently announced that he has been shortlisted for ‘Scoop of the Year’ at the BJA, muscling out the Dan Wootton scoop from Byline Times to be in contention for the award.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Tom Latchem said:

“Farage’s GB News “scoop” that his Coutts account was closed was shortlisted for British Journalism Awards.

“Our three-year investigation into his how Dan Wootton was a secret serial catfish and blackmailer was not as it did not resonate with “the man in the street”. Go figure.”

Farage was recently booed off stage after winning the news presenter gong at the TRIC awards.

He later announced the win on his GB News show with the gong on his desk and a bottle of Champagne next to him, saying:

“They screamed and they heckled me. Gosh, I enjoyed it!”
