Conservative Party announce WRONG person as new party chairman

Today’s cabinet reshuffle has not gone well.

A tweet was sent out from the official @conservatives account congratulating Chris Grayling as new chairman of the party.

However, the post has actually been given to Brandon Lewis. The tweet was deleted as soon as the error was noticed.

The incorrect news was shared by numerous people, and even mentioned on T, before it was taken off the social media platform.

It was Theresa May’s first major reshuffle since taking office in 2016.

Confirming he was leaving the PM top team after nearly two years as party chairman, McLoughlin told Sky News: “I’ve been in the Cabinet eight years. I have had a very good run and I enjoyed it immensely.”

In this reshuffle Mrs May’s most senior colleagues, including Chancellor Philip Hammond, Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson, Brexit Secretary David Davis and Home Secretary Amber Rudd are expected to stay in their current roles.
