Carnage left after a gang used a digger to rip out an entire Essex cashpoint

This is the scene of carnage after ram-raiders made off with a cash point machine from a sleepy Essex village.

Robbers used a digger to tear the machine out of the wall – leaving behind a trail of bricks and twisted metal.

Theydon Bois locals have spoken of their disbelief after thieves made off with the only cash point in the village.

One villager said: “This is the only cashpoint in the village. What shocks me is the brazen cheek of it.”

The smash-and-grab comes just days after a near identical raid in Hullbridge, Essex where a cashpoint was stolen.

Essex Police have not ruled out speculation that a hole-in-the-wall gang are operating in Essex.

A spokesman said: “We have not ruled out a link between the incidents, we are keeping an open mind.”
