This is the remarkable moment a nine-year-old boy who had never spoken before sang for the first time during a school play was caught in an emotional video, which will bring joy your heart and will leave you feeling warm inside.
Musab Mohamoud was classed as non-verbal and had to rely on the sign language Makaton to communicate with others. This was a major breakthrough for the young lad.
Wonderfully, the youngster managed to form the words of a song to his fellow classmates during a school concert this week.
Musab then astounded staff at Venturers’ Academy in Withywood, Bristol, when he was able to perform the melody in front of one hundred spectators, who were blown away by his performance.
The video (see below) shows Musab perform a solo he had even written himself for the special play.
The incredible youngster has since managed to say “good morning” to staff.
Trystan Williams, Venturers’ Academy principal, said: “It was a truly incredible moment to see Musab and the others singing on the stage.
“During the music week we noticed that Musab, who is non-verbal and previously had only mumbled words, was starting to form words.
“To see Musab stand on the stage and sing for the first time was an utterly magical and probably the most uplifting point in my 25 career of working with young people with learning difficulties.”
Musab, who has four sisters and two brothers, will now record the song with his classmates.
Saeed, Musab’s dad a 40-year-old taxi driver said: “It was like magic.
“He used to hum along to CBeebies when it came on the television but the school concert was the first time we had ever heard him properly sing.
“He is now starting to sing along to other songs when he recognises them on the TV.
“We are hoping his love of music and singing will help develop his communication skills.”
