Wine of the Week: Tesco Finest Saint Mont 2016

The start of the year often brings with it the most frugal months for Brits, with a demand to live well for less ever-present.

And so in keeping with the nation’s spendthrift needs we have picked a wine that will return change out of a fiver, but feels like a high-end white that gives you a glimpse of the summer in the cold winter months.

Saint Mont, located in the Gers department in southwestern France, is renowned for its white wines that make use of the Arrufiac, Petit Corbu, Petit Manseng and Gros Manseng grape varieties.

The blend typically produces zingy and fruity wines with plenty of grapefruit, sun ripened apricots, peach juice and quince.

Drink as an aperitif and goes well with starters, Comté or Pyrenean cheeses and fish and seafood dishes.
