Try ‘One Of Everything’ At Gilgamesh, Camden

Have you ever looked at the al a carte options in a restaurant and thought, “I could eat everything on the menu”? It is one of Trip Advisor’s most common reviews for its most lauded restaurants, and now Gilgamesh in Camden Town is offering its punters the option of doing just that.

From Teriyaki Fillet of Beef to King Prawn Tempura, Beef Panang and Black Rice Risotto, groups over ten will have the option of receiving one of every item to share from the a la carte menu at the award-winning Pan-Asian restaurant.

With its elevated round tables and lavish long dining spaces, the cavernous restaurant is the perfect setting for a night out with a group of friends or a celebration with loved ones. And to take the hassle out of ordering en-masse, the restaurant has decided to lay on everything it has to offer to ensure you get the full experience.

TLE headed down to see what it was all about.

Overlooking the renowned Stables Market on Chalk Farm Road, Gilgamesh offers an ‘all-under-one-roof’ Babylonian-style dining experience that delivers the full works from aperitif to digestif. The Ginger Martini bar offers an extensive range of cocktails in a trendy setting. You can indulge in sushi or sashimi platters to whet your appetite while sampling a range of cocktails inspired by tastes from the East. The Zentini, a vodka-based cocktailed shaken with home-made ginger syrup, a hint of mint and apple juice is particularly delicious.

The restaurant itself is a sight to behold. Set within a domed glass ceiling room, it features opulent décor that really sets the scene for the Pan Asian creations of chef Mark Read. Its forte is evidently larger groups, which are well accommodated for in the banquet-style room. The tables are well equipped for sharing, and much of the menu – from dim sum to tempura, maki rolls and nigari – is also designed to be thrown in the middle amidst a mellay of competing chop sticks.

A selection of curry dishes make for some appealing main course options. A traditional Thai Yellow or Green Curry for those who opt for ‘safety first’, and a Malaysian Seafood Jungle Curry and Beef Panang for those who are a little more adventurous. Other large plates feature a range of meats cooked in Asian style, served with a variety of rice and noodles.

Gilgamesh certainly offers ‘experience’ dining. The restaurant is unlike any other and caters well for large groups who will enjoy a jovial evening sharing a feast of food in a setting that is conducive to having a good time. The food certainly doesn’t light up the World, but it does what it needs to do and certainly won’t spoil a good evening in the heart of Camden Town.
